The DeLight laser removes cavities and treats gum and tissue problems with the energy of light. The specialized light produced by this laser is selectively absorbed by the water content of cavities and tissues. In the case of treating a cavity, the laser gently removes the decay, leaving more of your healthy tooth intact.

Will I still need anesthesia?
Probably not! In clinical studies, 96% of patients required no anesthesia when the DELight laser was used to remove decay. This means you will not have to spend time waiting for numbing to take effect or to wear off. In some cases we use short acting anesthetics, especially in your first appointments depending on the lesion and the levels of anxiety, or if the area affected is rather deep. Additionally, multiple teeth in different parts of your mouth can be worked on in ONE visit. Upon evaluation of your particular needs Dr. Padilla can provide you with various options of anesthesia or sedation to make your experience more comfortable. You may still choose to have anesthesia , while avoiding the sound and vibration of the drill.
